Department of History, Quaid-i-Azam University is the second home for all those who have been its students. Though one only spends a small span of two years in the four-walls of the department, most of the students consider these two years as the golden period in their life. It is not only that they are taught the history of various regions, and they learn the methods and equip themselves of the tools of understanding, interpreting and writing history, they are also exposed to intellectually and socially stimulating environment in the University. One of the greatest strengths of the department is its family like atmosphere. During their two years stay in the department, most students come so close to their teachers, staff, class fellows, seniors and juniors, that one often sees tears in the eyes of the fourth semester students during their last days at the campus.

In order to keep the family intact, ‘The Historians’, an alumni association of the Department of History, Quaid-i-Azam University was launched in 1995. Late Mr. Nadeem Siddiqui, Ms. Rabia Umar Ali and Mr. Farooq Ahmad Dar were its founding members. The basic aim of the organization is to keep the alumni in contact with their alma mater and also amongst them. The Association holds an annual get- together in the premises of the University in which the current students are also invited so they can get career guidance from the well-settled alumni.
