State of Social Sciences and Humanities
The Conference on ‘State of Social Sciences and Humanities: Current Scenario and Emerging Trends’ was organized by Committee on the Development of Social Sciences and Humanities, Higher Education Commission (HEC), and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Islamabad. It was held on December 15-17, 2003 at Margalla Hotel, Islamabad, and was hosted by Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad in collaboration with Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Rawalpindi and Council for Social Sciences, Pakistan (COSS), Islamabad.
The proceedings of the Conference have been published. In its session III, papers relating to the current scenario and emerging trends in the discipline of history were presented. These included papers on ‘History—The State of Discipline: An Overview’ by Dr. Sharif-ul-Mujahid and ‘Prevailing Trends in the Discipline of History: A Reappraisal of History Teaching at Allama Iqbal Open University’ by Ms. Samina Awan, Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad.
