Program of Study
The M. Phil. program offers quite diverse courses to the students. It includes both compulsory and optional courses of three credits each for the students.
Compulsory Courses
All students enrolled in M. Phil. program are required to take the following compulsory courses during their course work:
HI 601 | Philosophy of History (including Greek, Western, Muslim and South Asian Historiography) |
HI 602 | Methods in Historical Research |
HI 603 | Working knowledge of language relevant to the dissertation. In case the relevant languages are Urdu and English, the student on the advice of the Supervisor, may take any other language or a one-semester course from Part-II M. Phil courses. |
HI 604 | A Specialized study of a Period or an Institution or a Personality in the History of Islam. |
Optional Courses
The student may select any two of the following courses of three credits each:
HI 605 | A Specialized Study of a Period or on institution or a Personality in the History of Europe. |
HI 606 | A Specialized Study of a Period or an Institution or a Personality in the History of South Asia from the earliest times to 1947. |
HI 607 | A Specialized Study of a Muslim Political Movement in since the beginning of the 19th century. |
HI 608 | A Specialized Study of an Institution or a Movement or a Personality in the History of Pakistan. |
HI 699 | M.Phil. Dissertation |
